UTMV Fighting Game Progress Update #1 - 4.13.25

A ton tbh, but not a ton to show off.

Game development just takes a long time to get out from under the boring stuff, and I haven't had a lot of time to get through an extra long boring part. I've been very busy and very tired, but I'm still cramming in a couple hours to work on this whenever I can sit up at my computer and concentrate.

The other main reason it's taking a while is because I've realized the most effective way for me to learn Game Maker is to take some of the video tutorials out there and write them down into a searchable document, making notes on what each part does to make sure I understand.

And by that, I mean doing this--

--for 20 lessons worth of material. Maybe more.

Which isn't as impossible a task as it sounds. I think the repetition really is teaching me the steps and vocabulary I'll need to navigate programming on my own. Plus, this might be proof that I'm less likely to fall victim to programming fatigue.

I've already followed an actual video tutorial with Game Maker itself (I made an extremely sloppy platformer where Frisk goomba stomps a bunch of Ink clones), but that's not quite enough to etch anything lasting into the adhd putty that is my brain.

Once all the studying is done, I'll hopefully have enough building blocks and forum post tips to stumble my way through a proof of concept build. (And I have a pretty funny idea for cutting down on sprite drawing time, involving Muybridge plates.)

I know I haven't been doing as much of the cool and fun parts of game making like sprite art, UI design, story writing, and feature development. But to be honest, it just doesn't feel like the right thing to be focusing on until I can get basic game functionality off the ground. I've watched way too many projects collapse in my day because the sprinkles outweighed the cake.

HOWEVER! I accidentally let my instagram algorithm know that I like weird industrial/improvised/custom instrument music, and now I'm swimming in it. You can check that out in the MUSIC REF/INSPO doc if you like.

Why the Bible Should Be Reinstated as a Subject in Schools

Youth culture is experiencing a modern ethical decline characterized by race-based narcissism, the growing acceptance of platforms like OnlyFans among young women aged 18 to 44, and aggressive advocacy for minor transgender-affirming care on TikTok; these trends raise concerns about the absence of moral boundaries regarding children, autonomy, and identity.

We cannot pinpoint when the decline in social morality and dignity began, or conclude its normalization. Factors like unsupervised internet access, administrative failures in 2020, and unilateral diversity efforts likely contributed to the present educatory decline, distorted social norms, and equating of 'micro-labels' to self-determination.

A notable example of a breeding ground for social contagions and negative influences is modern schools.

School has been the cultural and foundational experience necessary for the adolescent development of character, intelligence, and independence. Parents rely on this environment, as an extension of caring for their child's cognizant well-being, to promote focused development and responsibility in social skills, academics, and future aspirations. 

However, we now observe a pattern of deception within education. The educational system has shifted from nurturing skills and protecting knowledge integrity to openly discussing various ideologies and unconventional sexual education, often without adequate parental permission or awareness.

This deception reveals the modern shift from traditional support structures, like church and family, towards external counsel and the disregard for professional boundaries and parental rights - resulting in unhealthy affinities between students and the school's authority and independence. 

We recognize the significance of orthodox school subjects and their teachers, but we also question how moral issues and inappropriate social trends are addressed within the academic context. In response, I propose reinstating the Bible as a subject in schools.  

Religion examines the concepts of right and wrong, fact and fallacy, nature versus nurture, truth versus emotion, and purpose versus plan. The Bible serves as a well-known source for exploring these ideas and issues.

Through the Bible, students can discern between the wisdom of Proverbs and self-help, contextualize the sociology of Leviticus with social movements, compare Tanakh/Torah laws to modern legislation, and explore ecclesiastical poetry in Job and Ecclesiastes. Students will also strengthen their reading, grammar, and speaking skills by examining the differences between the Bible's King James and our Standard English. 

From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible contrasts moral dilemmas and relatable life lessons through stories, testimonies, psalms, and verses. 

Teaching the Bible offers contemporary, endurable, mature solutions to modern problems. The Bible can guide our youth toward modesty, thoughtfulness, and healthy choices in friendships, family, health, sexuality, and self-awareness. These teachings can support their growth and help them navigate their social development into adulthood.

During their formative years, students are highly impressionable. Combining age-appropriate sociology with biblical studies will equip our youth with the moral compass to navigate their exposure to inappropriate deportments often encouraged on social and public platforms. The Bible's objectivity will enable both teachers and students, adults and children, influencers and influenced, to investigate their biases, behavior, thinking patterns, and authority more critically and carefully. 

While the Bible also contains violent and graphic themes; such studies can be reserved for high school students (grades 9-12) with sufficient critical thinking skills and can confidently interpret complex narrations of rape, death, and war within their historical context and confront the uncomfortable realities paralleled in their present day. 

Many people will disapprove of teaching the Bible as a subject in schools. They argue it could be biased and infringe upon their First Amendment, potentially deny other religions their space and expression, or reinforce misconstrues and negative attitudes toward specific communities.

This proposal outlines an elective course for students supervised by a subject expert focused on the Bible. The aim is to explore the positive effects of biblical values on families, communities, education, politics, language, media, and personalities while promoting diverse religious perspectives, critical thinking, and appropriate repudiates.

The Bible reaffirms the mastery of our creation and the power of free will when driven by the virtues of patience, goodness, kindness, gentleness, self-control, and peace. Reaffirming these virtues and honorable life skills will transform the next generation's perspectives on social norms, identity, and governance. 

Dismantling this destructive culture of self-determination and self-gratification, with biblical guidance, will rebalance the dynamics of acceptance and adolescence, and recalibrate the positive power our youth will channel into future ambitions, environments, and civics.

In the Fever Part.2 Diary Entries, we learned that Z-World's government really started shooting up on the waking-nightmare-scale after they began running AI simulations to come up with the "best" policies to implement for maximum control and efficiency.

What resulted from these simulations was that the AI determined all crimes and terrorism were strictly the result of human emotions. Therefore, the best way to rid the world of such suffering must be to eradicate emotions and all which might evoke it.

Z's government developed technology to essentially numb the population - the chips we later learned about in the World Ep.1 Diary Entries. In the Fever Part.3 Diary Entries, we then got some additional info on the AI software used by the government: it was an AI system which utilized deep learning technology and ran uncontrolled for a while as the government awaited its results.

During this time, the system began treating human emotion as a bug - perhaps because it couldn't understand it - and it also started estimating humans' individual energy, thereby reducing it to a product. And since it found it to be a product, it also began treating it as a tradeable commodity.

Instead of questioning these results, the government was more likely delighted, because they immediately took over this new energy trading platform, banned all arts and emotions, and wilfully stripped the population of its humanity by treating them as nothing more than components needed to maintain the governments' idea of a utopia.

Out here in the real world, we've also begun to see the crazy amount of negative consequences since AI technology has become widely implemented in pretty much all areas of life:

#1 - Use of AI in Healthcare

In the US, the healthcare system has been relying on AI powered algorithms to guide health care decisions, but due to the data sampled by the AI, extreme racial bias has crept in and is actively putting black lives at risk. To quote Science Journal:

At a given risk score, Black patients are considerably sicker than White patients, as evidenced by signs of uncontrolled illnesses. Remedying this disparity would increase the percentage of Black patients receiving additional help from 17.7 to 46.5%.

Furthermore, the data sourced by AI for global use (such as in risk-prediction) is often extremely biased in other ways as well: radiology manuscripts are over represented, the majority of documents sourced are authored by men, and data-poor regions are grossly underrepresented, meaning the majority of information sourced comes from the US and China. #2 - YouTube's Algorithm Is Messed Up

According to the Tech Transparency Project which has gathered data from another study:

YouTube recommended hundreds of videos about guns and gun violence to accounts for boys interested in video games. Some of the recommended videos gave instructions on how to convert guns into automatic weapons or depicted school shootings. Many of the videos violated YouTube’s own policies on firearms, violence, and child safety, and YouTube took no apparent steps to age-restrict them. YouTube also recommended a movie about serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer to minor accounts.

Where Meta has recently constructed a 2 million square foot data facility in Georgia, a nearby living couple have documented the devastating consequences to the environment and their lives.

Facilities like these are used to power stuff like Chat GPT, Gemini, etc.:

In order for them to function as needed, they put a huge toll on the power grid and require the construction of an entirely new infrastructure atop the usual servers, storage systems and networking equipment.

For one, AI data centres require high-performance graphics processing units (GPUs) which come with their own required infrastructure needs (advanced storage, networking, energy and cooling capabilities). The sheer number of GPUs necessary for AI use alone then already add a ton more square footage to the size of the data centre.

On top of that, living in a county with a data centre like this in the US drives up the cost of electricity for everyone in the county.

And what does all this mean for the environment? Deforestation. Light pollution. Air pollution. Here is a still frame from a video shot by a woman living over 366 meters away from an AI centre's construction site:

All this pollution then started seeping into the ground water, resulting in this:

And what does that mean for someone living nearby? Dishwashers breaking. Washing machines breaking. Water pressure dropping to the point where you can't even flush a toilet anymore because all the pipes are clogged with sediment.

On a global scale, it should also be noted that:

According to the Washington Post in collaboration with the University of California, Riverside, writing a single 100-word email in Open AI's ChatGPT is the equivalent of consuming just over one bottle of water.

Shaolei Ren, an associate professor of engineering at UC Riverside, says that while "We haven’t come to the point yet where AI has tangibly taken away our most essential natural water resources," the use of AI in places with frequent droughts has caused rising tension between communities who need the water and data centers. Not to mention, hardware production pollutes water, per a study initially published in January 2015 in the Journal of Cleaner Production, due to the extraction of precious minerals like boron, silicon, and phosphorous.

A new video has been released which takes a look at Memphis where Elon Musk had the data center built that allows for Twitter's Chat-Bot Gronk to exist, and here is what was discovered:

No regulatory body has been informed of what is operating within that facility.

#5 - Use of AI in Warfare

Israel has been using untested and undisclosed AI-powered databases in order to identify targets and plan bombing campaigns throughout Gaza, which has reportedly led to the loss of thousands of civilian lives.

And who provided this technology? Google. For fear of losing business to Amazon. And not just them. Microsoft too has been collaborating with the Israeli military, as has Amazon who collaborated with Google in 2021 to establish "Project Nimbus" which continues on to this day with zero transparency or accountability.

Beyond that, even after the bombs were dropped, drones would come in to specifically target surviving children and it is known that Israel utilized AI-powered drones for carrying out precise assassinations and various combat missions.

#6 - AI-Generated Art

With AI-generated art flooding social media and streaming platforms on the daily, it's getting harder and harder for new artists to enter the scene. On top of that, all the recommendations you're getting online - be that on an image search, streaming platform or elsewhere - are also all the result of AI-powered algorithms.

And as we all know, generative AI is trained on data banks filled to the brim with stolen art from non-consenting artists across the globe - be that musicians, painters, photographers, voice actors, chefs, or writers.

Yes we all might have that feeling (I get it too sometimes) but once you become cool, calm, & collected, (the 3 C’s!) you are unstoppable! Without a reaction people will tell that you don’t care about what they have to say about you because you already know your worth as a pretty girl. So ignoring can go a good way. However, if you find it hard to ignore, just tell that someone (or group of people) that you don’t care & don’t say anything more. If you do need to control your anger when stuff like this happens, listening to meditation videos & music really helps. Most importantly, STAY OUTTA DRAMA. Once you develop this habit, you don’t have to worry about who to defend or even getting yourself involved in a situation that has nothing to do with you, you can get yourself in trouble. If someone is constantly bringing you into drama, consider distancing yourself from them.

3. Drop any fake friends

This kind of refers to step 1. but please drop fake friends! These people just come into your life to make you miserable and look down on yourself. I have had my fair share of fake friends and it’s not pretty. It can even be guy friends, not just jealous envious girls. Sometimes it could be hard to identify who is a fake friend in your life but if you connect the dots, you may have one. Here are signs to watch out for:

• Talks bad about you “jokingly”
